About Scan to PDF
Use your phone as a document scanner. Take photos of pages or pick photos you already have; each one is cropped to the page, straightened as if it had been scanned flat, cleared of shadows and given an even white background. Drag the four corners to fine-tune any page.
Choose Auto, Black & white, Grayscale or Enhanced colour, reorder and turn pages, pick A4, Letter or the scan’s own size and a file size, and add searchable text with OCR. Everything happens in your browser — your documents are never uploaded.
Good for
- Scanning receipts, bills and forms with a phone
- Sending signed documents as a PDF
- Digitising notes, letters and certificates
Tip: Put the page on a dark surface in good light and keep the whole page in the photo — the edges are then found automatically.
Frequently asked questions
How does it turn a photo into a scan?
It finds the edges of the page in your photo, straightens it as if it had been scanned flat (perspective correction), removes shadows and evens out the paper colour. You can drag the four corners if the page isn’t found exactly.
Which filter should I use?
Auto removes shadows and whitens the paper while keeping colours. Black & white gives crisp text and the smallest files — ideal for letters and forms. Grayscale suits pencil and photos, and Enhanced colour brightens colourful pages.
Can I scan with my phone’s camera?
Yes. On a phone, tap “Take a photo” to use the camera, page after page; every photo is added to the same PDF. Lay the page on a darker surface for the best edge detection.
Can I make the scan searchable?
Yes. Tick “Make the text searchable” to read the pages with OCR (English, Hindi and more) — the PDF then has invisible text you can search and copy.
How big will the PDF be?
Choose High quality (300 DPI), Balanced (200 DPI) or Small file (150 DPI). Black & white pages are the smallest.
Do my documents leave my phone?
No. Straightening, cleaning, OCR and the PDF itself are all done in your browser, so your documents stay on your device.
Why does my scan look tilted or cut off?
The page edges weren't detected cleanly — common with busy backgrounds or poor light. Use the ⌗ button to drag the corners into place, and next time photograph the page on a plain, contrasting surface.
