How to convert TSV to CSV

  1. Select or drop TSV, TXT or CSV files — or click Or paste data and paste rows copied from Excel or Google Sheets.
  2. Check the preview, then choose the separator for the new file (comma for CSV, semicolon for European Excel, tab, pipe or your own), the quoting and line endings.
  3. Click Convert to download the converted file (several files come together as a ZIP).

About TSV to CSV

Convert tab-separated TSV files to CSV — or change any delimited text file to the separator you need: comma, semicolon for European Excel, tab, pipe or your own character. The separator and text encoding of your file are detected automatically.

Values that contain separators, quotes or line breaks are quoted correctly, and you can choose the quoting style, line endings and the UTF-8 mark Excel needs for accents. Paste data copied from a spreadsheet, convert several files at once, and nothing is uploaded.

Good for

  • Turning database or clipboard exports into CSV
  • Converting semicolon CSVs for English Excel (and back)
  • Preparing files for tools that need a specific separator

Tip: Data copied from Excel is tab-separated — paste it here to get a CSV without saving a file first.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between TSV and CSV?

Both are plain-text tables. TSV separates values with a tab, CSV with a comma (or a semicolon in many European versions of Excel). Converting only changes the separator and adds quotes where a value contains one.

Can I convert CSV to TSV or change a semicolon CSV to a comma CSV?

Yes. The separator of your file is detected, and you can convert to comma, semicolon, tab, pipe or any other character.

Can I paste data instead of uploading a file?

Yes. Copying cells from Excel or Google Sheets gives tab-separated text — click Or paste data, paste it and convert.

Are values containing commas handled?

Yes. Values that contain the separator, quotes or line breaks are put in quotes as CSV requires. You can also quote every value or all text values.

Will accents show correctly in Excel?

Keep “UTF-8 with BOM” ticked and Excel opens the file with accents and other alphabets intact.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser — your data never leaves your device.
