How to split a CSV file
- Select or drop a CSV, TSV or TXT file. Its separator and encoding are detected and the first rows are shown.
- Choose how to split: Every N rows, By file size (for upload limits) or By the values of a column. Keep the header repeated in every file.
- Click Split CSV and download the files one by one or together as a ZIP.
About Split CSV
Split a CSV file that is too large to open or upload into smaller files. Cut it into parts of a fixed number of rows, keep every part under a size limit for uploads and email, or make one file for each value in a column such as country, customer or status.
The header row is repeated in every file, rows are never cut in half, and values are kept exactly as written — leading zeros and long numbers stay intact. The separator and encoding are detected and kept, and nothing is uploaded.
Good for
- Getting under import or upload size limits
- Opening very large exports in Excel
- Sending each team or country only its own rows
Tip: Many import tools accept up to 5 or 10 MB — use By file size with that limit.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a CSV into files of a certain number of rows?
Choose Every N rows and type how many data rows each file should have. The header row is added to the top of every file.
Can I split a CSV to stay under an upload limit?
Yes. Choose By file size and set the largest size in MB. Rows are never cut in half — each file is filled up to the limit.
Can I split by a column, such as one file per country?
Yes. Choose By the values of a column and pick it; each different value gets its own file, named after the value.
Is the header row repeated?
Yes, as long as “First row is a header” is ticked.
Are values changed?
No. Values are kept exactly as written — leading zeros, dates and long numbers are not altered. The separator stays the same unless you choose another.
How large a CSV can I split?
Files with hundreds of thousands of rows work well; the limit is your device’s memory, because the file is processed in your browser.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Splitting happens entirely in your browser — your data never leaves your device.
