About Sitemap Generator
Create an XML sitemap by crawling your website.
It works in your browser, so it is instant and private, and your settings are remembered on this device.
Good for
- Small and medium websites without a sitemap plugin
- Checking which pages are indexable
- Validating sitemaps
Tip: Use “Check a sitemap” on your existing sitemap — errors there stop Google from reading it.
Frequently asked questions
How does the crawler work?
It starts at your home page and follows links on your own domain, page by page, up to the limit and depth you set. Only pages that return 200, are indexable and canonical go into the sitemap.
What do I do with the sitemap?
Upload sitemap.xml to your site root, add a Sitemap line to robots.txt and submit it in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
Do priority and changefreq matter?
Google ignores them; lastmod is used when it is accurate. They are optional here.
My site has more pages than the limit
Use your CMS or a sitemap plugin for very large sites, or build the sitemap from a list of URLs. A sitemap can hold up to 50,000 URLs.
How does the crawl reach my site?
Our server requests each page for you, because browsers can't read other websites directly. The pages aren't saved; the sitemap is built in your browser.
