Hreflang Tags Generator

Point search engines to the right language version of each page — and check that the tags link back.

How to create hreflang tags

  1. List each version’s URL with its language code.
  2. Fix any warnings and choose HTML, sitemap or HTTP header output.
  3. Add the code to every version — then check a live page.

About Hreflang Generator

Generate hreflang tags for multilingual and multi-regional sites as HTML link tags, XML sitemap entries or HTTP headers.

It works in your browser, so it is instant and private, and your settings are remembered on this device.

Good for

  • Multilingual websites
  • Country versions of shops (en-US, en-GB, en-IN)
  • Fixing hreflang errors in Search Console

Tip: Use the XML sitemap format when you have many pages — it keeps your HTML lighter.

Frequently asked questions

What is hreflang?

An annotation that tells Google which language and country each version of a page is for, so searchers get the right one — for example English for the UK and English for India.

Which codes should I use?

A language code (ISO 639-1) such as en, fr or hi, optionally followed by a country code (ISO 3166-1) such as GB or IN: en-GB, hi-IN. Common mistakes like en-UK or jp are flagged with the right code.

What is x-default?

The version shown to users whose language or country matches none of the others — often your international home page or a language chooser.

Why do I need return links?

Every version must list all other versions and itself. If page A points to B but B does not point back to A, Google ignores the annotation. The live checker tests this.

Is anything sent to your server?

Only when you check a live page: our server fetches it and its alternate pages for you. The tags you create stay in your browser.
