Find and Replace

Find and replace text with as many rules as you need — whole words, match case, keep case, regular expressions and presets — with every change highlighted.

How to find and replace text

  1. Paste your text or open a file.
  2. Type what to find and what to replace it with; add more rules, use regex, whole words or keep case.
  3. Check the highlighted changes, then copy or download the result.

About Find and Replace

Change words, names, numbers or formatting across a whole document at once. Each rule can match whole words only, respect upper and lower case, keep the case of what it finds, or use regular expressions with groups.

Add as many rules as you need, use presets for common jobs like straightening quotes or removing HTML tags, and see every change highlighted before you copy or download the result.

Good for

  • Renaming people, products or terms in a document
  • Cleaning data with regular expressions
  • Converting formats, e.g. tabs to commas

Tip: Turn on “Whole word” to replace “cat” without touching “category”.

Frequently asked questions

Can I replace several words at once?

Yes — add as many rules as you like; they run from top to bottom and each shows how many replacements it made.

Does it support regular expressions?

Yes. Tick Regex to use patterns, and $1, $2 in the replacement for captured groups. Use \n and \t for a new line and a tab.

What does “Keep case” do?

It adapts the replacement to what was found: replacing fox with cat turns Fox into Cat and FOX into CAT.

Can I see what changed?

Yes, every replacement is highlighted in the result, and a deleted match shows as ␡.

Can I open files?

Yes — open or drop TXT, Markdown, CSV, HTML, JSON, subtitles, Word (.docx), OpenDocument (.odt), RTF and PDF files, even several at once.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Every replacement runs in your browser, so your text and files stay on your device. A draft is kept only in this browser so you don't lose it.
