Frequently asked questions
What are invisible characters?
Zero-width spaces, joiners, soft hyphens and byte-order marks: they cannot be seen but break searches, code and data. The tool removes them.
What is a non-breaking space?
A space that stops a line break, often pasted from Word or websites. It looks normal but is a different character; the tool turns it into a regular space.
Can I see the spaces?
Yes — tick “Show spaces (·) and tabs (→) in the result” to see a · for each space and → for each tab (copying still gives clean text).
Can I change line endings?
Yes, to Unix/Mac (LF) or Windows (CRLF).
Can I open files?
Yes — open or drop TXT, Markdown, CSV, HTML, JSON, subtitles, Word (.docx), OpenDocument (.odt), RTF and PDF files, even several at once.
