Tip Calculator

Work out the tip and what each person pays — tip % buttons, tip before tax, split the bill, round up, and a tip table from 10% to 25%.

How to calculate a tip

  1. Enter the bill and pick a tip percentage.
  2. Set the number of people and, if you like, the tax to leave out of the tip and rounding.
  3. See the tip, the total and what each person pays.

About Tip Calculator

Settle the bill quickly and fairly. Enter the amount, choose a tip and see the tip, the total and what everyone pays when you split it — with rounding to whole amounts if you prefer.

Leave the tax out of the tip, compare tips from 10% to 25% in a table, and check the tipping customs of different countries.

Good for

  • Restaurants, cafés and bars
  • Taxis, delivery and services
  • Group dinners and trips

Tip: Round up “each person” so nobody needs coins.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I tip?

In US restaurants 15–20% is standard; in the UK and much of Europe 10–15% if service is not included; in India 5–10% is common; in Japan tipping is not expected.

Should I tip on the amount before or after tax?

Etiquette says before tax. Enter the tax rate in “Tax included in the bill” and the tip is calculated on the pre-tax amount.

How do I split the bill?

Enter the number of people; round up “each person” to get an easy amount everyone can pay.
