Fraction Calculator

Add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions and mixed numbers in one expression — exact answers as simplified fractions, mixed numbers, decimals and percents — plus simplify, decimal to fraction and compare.

How to use the fraction calculator

  1. Type a calculation such as 1 1/2 + 3/4 × (2/5 − 1/3) — mixed numbers, brackets and powers work.
  2. See the exact answer as a fraction, mixed number, decimal (repeating digits in brackets) and percent.
  3. Use the other modes to simplify a fraction, turn a decimal into a fraction or put fractions in order.

About Fraction Calculator

Do fraction maths the easy way. Type a whole calculation with fractions, mixed numbers, decimals, brackets and powers, and get the exact answer as a simplified fraction, a mixed number, a decimal (with repeating digits marked) and a percent.

Other modes simplify any fraction with the greatest common divisor shown, turn decimals — even repeating ones — into fractions, and sort a list of fractions using a common denominator.

Good for

  • Maths homework and exam practice
  • Recipes and measurements
  • Woodwork and DIY measurements in inches

Tip: Use brackets to control the order — multiplication and division come before addition.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enter mixed numbers?

Type the whole number, a space and the fraction: 2 3/4 means two and three quarters.

Are the answers exact?

Yes — fractions are calculated exactly with whole numbers of any size, then simplified. Repeating decimals are shown with the repeating part in brackets, e.g. 0.1(6).

Can I convert a repeating decimal to a fraction?

Yes — in “Decimal → fraction”, write the repeating digits in brackets: 0.(3) = 1/3, 0.1(6) = 1/6.

Can I save or share a calculation?

Yes — click Share to copy a link that opens the calculator with your numbers, Print / PDF to save the results, or open History to go back to recent calculations.

Is my data stored or sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Your recent calculations are kept only in this browser (History), and a shared link contains just the numbers you entered.
