Average Calculator

Paste any list of numbers for the mean, median, mode, range, standard deviation, quartiles and more — or work out a weighted average of grades or prices.

How to calculate an average

  1. Paste or type your numbers — separated by spaces, commas or new lines (spreadsheet columns work).
  2. See the mean, median, mode and range at once, plus detailed statistics.
  3. Switch to “Weighted average” for values with weights, like grades and their percentages.

About Average Calculator

Find the average of any list of numbers in a moment. Paste numbers from anywhere — a spreadsheet column, a document or a message — and get the mean, median, mode and range, plus the sum, count, minimum and maximum.

For deeper analysis you also get the standard deviation and variance for samples and populations, quartiles, the interquartile range and the geometric and harmonic means. The weighted average mode handles grades, prices or scores with different weights.

Good for

  • Class marks and grade averages
  • Prices, measurements and survey answers
  • Quick statistics for homework and reports

Tip: Paste a column straight from Excel or Google Sheets — every number is picked up.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between mean, median and mode?

The mean is the sum divided by the count, the median is the middle value of the sorted list, and the mode is the value that appears most often.

How do I calculate a weighted average?

Multiply each value by its weight, add them up and divide by the total weight. For grades: 92 × 20% + 78 × 30% + 85 × 50% = 84.3.

Sample or population standard deviation?

Use the sample value (dividing by n − 1) when your numbers are a sample of a bigger group, and the population value when they are the whole group.

Can I save or share a calculation?

Yes — click Share to copy a link that opens the calculator with your numbers, Print / PDF to save the results, or open History to go back to recent calculations.

Is my data stored or sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Your recent calculations are kept only in this browser (History), and a shared link contains just the numbers you entered.
