Frequently asked questions
What is a GiroCode / EPC QR code?
A standard QR code defined by the European Payments Council. Scanning it in a banking app fills in the beneficiary, IBAN, amount and reference of a SEPA credit transfer, so customers pay invoices without typos.
Which banks support it?
Most banking apps in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Finland, and many others in the SEPA area. Some banks call it “photo transfer” or “scan & pay”.
Do I need the BIC?
No — version 002 makes the BIC optional for payments within the EEA. Add it only if your customers are outside the EEA.
Reference or remittance text?
Use a structured creditor reference (RF…) if your accounting uses one; otherwise put the invoice number in the remittance text. The standard allows only one of them.
Can I edit an existing GiroCode QR code?
Yes. Upload a photo, screenshot or PDF that contains the code, scan it with your camera, or paste its text. The code is read in your browser and the form is filled in, so you can change the amount or details and download a new code.
Can I make a poster or table stand?
Choose Poster / standee in the Design section: add your shop or company name, a call to action, a footer note and your colour, then download it as PNG or PDF in A6, A5, A4, square sticker or card size, or print it directly.
Can I create many codes at once?
Yes. Open the Bulk from CSV tab, paste rows from Excel or Google Sheets or open a CSV file, and download a ZIP of PNG codes, a PDF with one poster per page, an A4 label sheet with 12 codes per page, or a CSV of the payloads. Empty cells take the values from the form.
Are my bank details uploaded?
No. The code is made in your browser. Your details are remembered only in this browser, so the form is filled in next time.
