How to convert ODS to Excel

  1. Select or drop one or more .ods files. Click a file to preview it and use the tabs to look through its sheets.
  2. Choose .xlsx (or .xls for old Excel versions) and whether to leave out empty or hidden sheets.
  3. Click Convert to Excel. One file downloads straight away; several can be downloaded together as a ZIP.

About ODS to Excel

Convert OpenDocument spreadsheets from LibreOffice Calc and OpenOffice into Excel workbooks. Every sheet is converted with its name, and values, the results of formulas, number formats, merged cells and column widths are kept.

Convert many files at once, save as .xlsx or the older .xls, and leave out empty or hidden sheets if you like. A preview shows each sheet before you convert, and nothing is uploaded.

Good for

  • Sending LibreOffice spreadsheets to Excel users
  • Opening ODS attachments in Excel or Google Sheets
  • Converting a folder of ODS files in one go

Tip: Formulas are saved as their results — keep the .ods if you need to edit the formulas later.

Frequently asked questions

What is an ODS file?

ODS (OpenDocument Spreadsheet) is the format of LibreOffice Calc, OpenOffice and some other office apps. Excel can open some ODS files, but converting gives a native .xlsx that works everywhere.

Are all sheets converted?

Yes. Every sheet is kept with its name and order; you can choose to leave out empty or hidden sheets.

What is kept?

Values, the results of formulas, number formats such as dates, currency and percentages, merged cells and column widths. Charts, pictures and macros are not carried over.

Can I convert many ODS files at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like — each becomes its own Excel workbook, and you can download them together as a ZIP.

Can I get the old .xls format?

Yes. Choose Excel 97–2003 (.xls) for very old versions of Excel.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser — your spreadsheets never leave your device.
