Frequently asked questions

Which numbers can I validate?

Brazil CPF and CNPJ, Chile RUT and RUN, Argentina CUIT and CUIL, Mexico RFC and CURP, Colombia NIT, Peru RUC and the Ecuadorian cédula. The type is detected automatically, or you can choose it.

How is the Chilean RUT check digit calculated?

The digits are multiplied from right to left by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and again from 2, then 11 minus the remainder of the sum divided by 11 gives the digit. 11 becomes 0 and 10 becomes K.

What does the CURP tell me?

The date of birth, the sex and the state of birth are coded in the CURP. They are shown when you validate it, together with the check of the last digit.

Does a valid result mean the number is registered?

No — it proves the number is well formed, which catches most typos. Confirm registration with the tax authority: SII, AFIP / ARCA, SAT, DIAN, SUNAT, SRI or the Receita Federal.

Can I generate test numbers?

Yes. The Generate tab creates RUT, CUIT, NIT, RUC, cédula, CPF and CNPJ numbers with correct check digits for testing software.

Can I check a whole spreadsheet?

Yes. Click Open CSV / Excel and choose a .csv, .xlsx, .xls or .ods file. The column that holds the numbers is detected automatically (you can pick another one), every row is validated, and you can download a CSV report or copy the valid numbers formatted or as digits only.

Is what I enter uploaded?

No. Numbers are checked in your browser. Your recent checks are kept only in this browser (History).
