How to view EXIF data

  1. Select or drop one or more photos — JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or TIFF.
  2. Read the details grouped by camera, exposure, date, location and rights; open the location on a map and see the hidden thumbnail.
  3. Download the details as JSON, or click Export all as CSV for a table of every photo.

About Exif Viewer

Every photo carries hidden information: the camera and lens, exposure settings, when it was taken, the software used, the photographer and copyright — and often the exact GPS location. This viewer reads all of it from JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and TIFF files and lays it out in clear groups.

See the location on a map, the hidden preview thumbnail that can reveal the uncropped original, the colour profile and DPI. Download the details as JSON, or compare many photos in one CSV table. Nothing is uploaded.

Good for

  • Checking what a photo reveals before sharing it
  • Finding the camera settings behind a great shot
  • Verifying when and where a picture was taken

Tip: Check the GPS group before posting photos taken at home — it can reveal your address.

Frequently asked questions

What is EXIF data?

Information cameras and phones store inside photos: the camera and lens, settings such as shutter speed, aperture and ISO, the date and time, and often the GPS location where it was taken.

Can it show where a photo was taken?

Yes — if the photo contains GPS data, the latitude, longitude and altitude are shown with a link to the place on a map.

What is the hidden thumbnail?

Many photos carry a small preview copy. Some editors don’t update it, so it can still show the original, uncropped picture — worth checking before sharing.

Why does my photo show no EXIF?

Social networks, messaging apps and screenshots usually remove it. The original file from your camera or phone has it.

How do I remove the data?

Use EXIF Viewer & Remover — it removes everything or only the location, without re-compressing the photo.

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser — your pictures and their details never leave your device.
