How to make a 600 × 600 photo

  1. Select or drop your photo.
  2. The photo is cropped to a 600 × 600 square — smart crop keeps your face centred, or choose the part to keep. The file size is limited to 240 KB.
  3. Click Make photo and download the JPG.

About 600 × 600 Pixel Photo

Many applications ask for a square photo of exactly 600 × 600 pixels — most famously the US visa (DS-160) and the Diversity Visa lottery, which also require a JPG of 240 KB or less. Add your photo and it is cropped to a square with your face centred, resized to 600 × 600 and saved within the size limit.

Choose which part to keep if the smart crop misses, change the size limit, or save as PNG. Everything happens in your browser, so your photo stays private.

Good for

  • US visa DS-160 and DV lottery photos
  • Square profile pictures for websites and apps
  • Online forms that ask for a 600 × 600 photo

Tip: Use a photo with your face filling about two thirds of the height — the square crop will then match the visa rules.

Frequently asked questions

Where is a 600 × 600 photo needed?

The US visa application (DS-160) and the Diversity Visa lottery ask for a square photo of at least 600 × 600 pixels, up to 240 KB, in JPG. Many other forms and profile pictures use the same size.

Will my face be centred?

Smart crop keeps the most detailed part — usually your face — in the middle. If it picks the wrong part, choose “A part I choose” and click the top or centre anchor.

Can I change the file size limit?

Yes — open “More options” and change the maximum file size (240 KB by default).

Does it check the visa photo rules?

It makes the size, shape and file size right. Make sure the photo itself follows the rules: plain white or off-white background, face looking straight at the camera, no glasses.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. It's resized in your browser, so your photo stays on your device.
