- Checking domain age and expiry
- Finding a registrar or abuse contact
- Researching domains before buying
Tip: Domains in “clientTransferProhibited” status are locked against hijacking — that is good.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the owner’s name hidden?
Since GDPR most registries and registrars redact personal details. You can still contact the owner through the registrar’s form or abuse address.
What is RDAP?
The modern, structured replacement for WHOIS run by registries. This tool uses RDAP first and falls back to classic WHOIS for domains that do not support it.
Can I check if a domain is available?
If no registry record exists, the tool says the domain is not registered — it may be available to buy.
Can I look up an IP address?
Yes — you get the network name, address range, country and the organisation and abuse contact responsible for it.
How is the lookup made?
Your browser queries the public RDAP service. When a domain has no RDAP data, our server makes a classic WHOIS query for you. Results aren't saved.
