Random String Generator

Make secure random tokens, IDs and secrets for code, tests and configs.

How to generate random strings

  1. Pick the kind of string or ID.
  2. Set the length, characters, prefix and how many.
  3. Copy or download the result.

About Random String

Generate random strings, tokens and IDs.

It works in your browser for speed and privacy, remembers your settings on this device, and every result can be copied, downloaded or shared.

Good for

  • API keys, tokens and secrets
  • Database IDs and test data
  • Coupon and invite codes

Tip: For secrets, choose at least 128 bits of randomness (shown next to the result).

Frequently asked questions

Is it secure enough for API keys and secrets?

Yes. Values come from the browser’s cryptographic random generator without modulo bias, and nothing is sent to a server.

What is the difference between UUID v4 and v7?

v4 is fully random. v7 starts with a timestamp, so new IDs sort in creation order — better for database indexes.

Can I generate thousands at once?

Yes — up to 10,000 values with no duplicates, as plain lines, a JSON array, quoted CSV or SQL VALUES.

What is a ULID?

A 26-character ID that starts with a timestamp, so IDs sort in the order they were created, followed by 80 random bits.

What is a NanoID?

A short, URL-safe random ID — commonly 21 characters — that is as hard to guess as a UUID but more compact.
