Frequently asked questions

Are the passwords really random?

Yes — they come from crypto.getRandomValues, the browser’s cryptographically secure random generator, with rejection sampling so every character is equally likely.

What is a passphrase?

Several random words from the 7,776-word EFF list, like “Orbit-Canal-Mango-Stew-42”. Five words give about 65 bits of entropy and are much easier to remember and type than random characters.

How long should my password be?

At least 12–16 random characters for accounts, 20+ for master passwords and Wi-Fi. Each extra character multiplies the guesses needed.

Can I make many passwords at once?

Yes — up to 100, then copy them all or download a TXT or CSV file for new user accounts.

Is it private?

Yes. Everything is generated or calculated in your browser with the Web Crypto API — nothing you type is uploaded, logged or put in share links.
