Frequently asked questions

How do I trim a video?

Open it, drag across the timeline over the part you want (or type the start and end, or press [ and ] at the playhead), click Keep selection, then Save video.

Can I cut a part out of the middle?

Yes — select it and click Remove selection. Repeat for as many parts as you like; the remaining parts are joined.

Does trimming reduce quality?

Not in Fast mode: the video is copied as it is and the cut snaps to the nearest keyframe. Turn Fast mode off for frame-exact cuts — the kept part is then re-encoded at very high quality.

Why is it so fast?

When you only trim or change the container, the video is copied without re-encoding (instant, no quality loss). Other edits are encoded with your graphics card’s hardware encoder.

Which formats are supported?

Open MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, M4V, 3GP, TS and — after a quick in-browser conversion — AVI, WMV, FLV and MPEG. Save as MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, TS, AVI, FLV, 3GP, WMV or OGV with H.264, HEVC, VP9 or AV1.

Can I do other edits too?

Yes — every video tool here has the full editor: trim and cut, crop, rotate, resize for social media, speed, reverse, loop, filters, fades, text, logo, volume and export settings, with undo.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is trimmed in your browser, using your device's built-in video encoder (WebCodecs) where available, so the video never leaves your device and there's no upload wait.
