About SSC Photo Resize
SSC application forms check the photo strictly: about 3.5 × 4.5 cm, a JPG between 20 and 50 KB, a plain light background, no cap or glasses. Add your photo and the tool crops it with your face centred, cleans the background and saves the file within the limits.
It works for CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD, Stenographer and other SSC exams. Use Resize Signature for the signature upload. Everything happens in your browser.
Good for
- SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD and other exam forms
- Other exam forms that ask for 20–50 KB photos
- Re-uploading a rejected photo
Tip: Use a photo taken within the last three months, in good light, with your face filling most of the frame.
Frequently asked questions
What photo size does SSC ask for?
A recent colour photo of about 3.5 × 4.5 cm, in JPG, between 20 KB and 50 KB, without cap or spectacles, with the face clearly visible on a plain light background. Check the notice of your exam — values can change.
Will the file be between 20 and 50 KB?
Yes — the quality is set so the file is no bigger than 50 KB, and very small files are padded invisibly so they are at least 20 KB.
How is my face positioned?
The face is found automatically and the photo is framed so your head (chin to crown) has the size the rules ask for, with the right space above it. Drag the photo or use the zoom slider to fine-tune — the guide lines show where the crown and chin should be.
Can I change the background?
Yes. The person is separated from the background in your browser, and the background is replaced with white, off-white, light grey, blue, red or any colour. Choose “Keep the photo’s own” if your wall is already plain.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Face detection, background replacement and everything else run in your browser — your photo never leaves your device.
What if the SSC portal still rejects my photo?
Check that your face is clearly visible, with no glare on glasses or shadows, and that the photo is recent. Retake it in even light against a plain wall if needed.
