Frequently asked questions
How is SIP return calculated?
Each monthly instalment grows with monthly compounding at the expected annual return: FV = P × ((1 + i)^n − 1) / i × (1 + i), where i is the monthly rate and n the number of months.
What is a step-up SIP?
A SIP that grows every year — for example by 10% when your salary rises. It builds a much bigger corpus than a fixed SIP.
What return should I assume?
Equity funds have historically returned around 10–14% a year over long periods, debt funds around 6–8%. Returns are not guaranteed — use a conservative figure.
How much SIP do I need for my goal?
Choose “SIP for a goal”, enter the target and the time — the calculator gives the monthly amount.
What is an SWP?
A systematic withdrawal plan takes a fixed amount from your mutual fund every month. Choose SWP to see how long your corpus lasts, with an optional yearly rise in the withdrawal.
How much does waiting cost?
The calculator shows what you would have if you started a few years later with the same SIP — usually a large share of the final value, because the last years of compounding grow the most.
Is tax on mutual fund gains included?
An estimate is shown: long-term gains on equity funds are taxed at 12.5% above ₹1.25 lakh a year, plus cess. Debt funds are taxed at your slab rate.
Is my data stored or sent anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Your recent calculations are kept only in this browser (History), and a shared link contains just the numbers you entered.
