Frequently asked questions

How do I translate Morse code to English?

Type or paste the dots and dashes into the Morse box — leave one space between letters and a slash (/) or three spaces between words. The text appears instantly; choose Cyrillic or Greek under “Decode as” for other alphabets.

Can it decode Morse from audio?

Yes — let it listen through your microphone, or open a recording (MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A or a video). The tone and speed are detected automatically and the result is translated.

What is WPM and Farnsworth?

WPM (words per minute) sets the overall speed — 20 WPM is a typical amateur radio speed. Farnsworth keeps the letters fast but adds extra space between them, the best way to learn Morse by sound.

Which characters are supported?

Letters, numbers and punctuation of the international (ITU) code, accented letters such as É, Ñ and Ü, prosigns like the AR and SK markers, plus the Cyrillic and Greek Morse alphabets.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No — translation, sound and decoding all happen in your browser.
