Frequently asked questions

What is today’s Hijri date?

Open the converter — it starts with today’s date and shows the Hijri date in English and Arabic.

Which Hijri calendar does it use?

Umm al-Qura, the official calendar of Saudi Arabia, by default. You can switch to the tabular (arithmetical) calendar used by many software systems.

When is Ramadan this year?

Choose “Islamic dates of a year” and the Hijri year to see the start of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Islamic New Year and other occasions.

Can I see a Hijri calendar for the whole month or year?

Yes. Choose Calendar, pick the Hijri year and a month — or “Whole year” — to see each month with its Gregorian dates, Fridays and Islamic occasions. Use Print / PDF to print it.

How old am I in Hijri years?

Choose Age in Hijri and enter your date of birth. Because the Hijri year is about 11 days shorter, your Hijri age is a little higher — about one year more for every 33 years.

Why is my local date one day different?

Countries such as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh begin each month after the new moon is seen locally, often one day after Saudi Arabia. Set the moon sighting adjustment to −1 day (it is preset for those time zones).
