Frequently asked questions
How do I convert DD/MM/YYYY to MM/DD/YYYY?
Type or paste the date, keep “Day first” (or Detect), and choose MM/DD/YYYY — 15/10/2026 becomes 10/15/2026.
What about dates like 01/02/2026?
Both numbers could be the month, so the date is ambiguous. It is read day first and flagged; switch to “Month first” if it is a US date.
Which format should I use?
ISO 8601 (YYYY-MM-DD) is unambiguous everywhere and sorts correctly, so it is best for files and data. Use DD/MM/YYYY for most countries and MM/DD/YYYY for the US.
Can I convert a whole column?
Yes — paste the dates in “Convert a list”, pick the target format and copy the converted column back into your spreadsheet.
Can I make my own format?
Yes — choose “Custom pattern” and combine tokens such as dddd, Do MMMM YYYY or DD-MMM-YY.
