About EMI Calculator
Plan any loan — home, car, personal, education or business — before you sign. Enter the amount, rate and term to see the monthly EMI, the total interest and the date of your last payment, with a chart of how much of each year’s payments goes to principal and interest.
Work backwards to find the loan you can afford for an EMI or how long a payment will take to clear a loan, add a processing fee to see the real APR, and test extra monthly or one-time prepayments to see how much interest and time they save. Download the full schedule as CSV or print it.
Good for
- Home, car and personal loan planning
- Comparing tenures and checking affordability
- Deciding whether to prepay a loan
Tip: Try a small extra payment each month — it often cuts years off a home loan.
Frequently asked questions
What is an EMI?
An equated monthly instalment — the fixed amount you pay every month until the loan is repaid. Each EMI covers that month’s interest and repays part of the principal.
How is the EMI calculated?
With the reducing-balance formula EMI = P × i × (1+i)^n ÷ ((1+i)^n − 1), where P is the loan, i the monthly interest rate and n the number of months. Open “How it is calculated” to see it with your numbers.
Do prepayments really save money?
Yes. Extra payments reduce the principal directly, so less interest is charged every month after. The calculator shows the interest saved and how much sooner the loan ends.
What is APR?
The annual percentage rate includes the processing fee, so it shows the true yearly cost of the loan — useful for comparing offers.
Can I save or share a calculation?
Yes — click Share to copy a link that opens the calculator with your numbers, Print / PDF to save the results, or open History to go back to recent calculations.
Is my data stored or sent anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Your recent calculations are kept only in this browser (History), and a shared link contains just the numbers you entered.
