About YAML to JSON
Convert YAML to JSON with full YAML 1.2 support.
Everything works in your browser, so it is instant and private, and your settings are remembered on this device.
Good for
- Reading Kubernetes, Compose and CI files in code
- Checking YAML indentation errors
- Converting OpenAPI specs
Tip: YAML forbids tabs for indentation — if you get an error on a line that looks fine, replace tabs with spaces.
Frequently asked questions
Does it validate YAML too?
Yes — invalid YAML shows the exact line and column (for example a wrong indent or a tab), and the line is marked in the editor.
Are anchors and aliases supported?
Yes — &anchors, *aliases and merge keys are expanded in the JSON.
What about files with several documents?
Documents separated by --- become an array, JSON Lines, or only the first document — your choice.
Why did “no” become false?
In YAML 1.1 style, yes / no / on / off can be booleans. The default schema follows YAML 1.2 (only true / false); choose “Failsafe” to keep every value as text.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Everything is processed by JavaScript in your browser — nothing you paste or open is sent to a server, so it is safe for API responses, tokens, configs and customer data. It also works offline once the page has loaded.
