About JSON to XML
Convert JSON to well-formed XML with your choice of root element, array style, attributes (@id), text nodes, CDATA, xsi:nil and indentation.
Everything works in your browser, so it is instant and private, and your settings are remembered on this device.
Good for
- Feeding JSON data to SOAP and legacy XML systems
- Creating RSS, sitemaps and config files
- Data exchange with enterprise software
Tip: Keep “Use a single top-level key as the root” on so {"catalog": {…}} becomes <catalog> instead of <root><catalog>.
Frequently asked questions
How are JSON arrays converted?
By default each item repeats the element name, so ["a", "b"] under tags becomes two tags elements. Choose “wrap items” to get one tags element holding an item element per value.
How do I create XML attributes?
Prefix a key with @ — {"book": {"@id": "bk101"}} gives the book element an id="bk101" attribute. Use #text for an element’s text next to attributes.
What happens to invalid element names?
Keys that are not valid XML names (spaces, leading digits) are made valid automatically, e.g. "2024 total" becomes _2024_total.
Does it convert back?
Yes — use the XML to JSON converter, which uses the same @attribute and #text conventions.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Everything is processed by JavaScript in your browser — nothing you paste or open is sent to a server, so it is safe for API responses, tokens, configs and customer data. It also works offline once the page has loaded.
