Frequently asked questions

How do I resize a video for Instagram?

Choose Square 1:1 or Portrait 4:5 under Canvas size, pick Fit (bars) with a Blurred video background or Fill (crop), and save.

What is the blurred background?

When the video does not match the new shape, the empty space is filled with a blurred, darkened copy of the video — the popular look for vertical clips — instead of black bars.

Can I reduce the resolution?

Yes — choose 1080p, 720p, 480p or type a width and height; smaller resolution also makes the file smaller.

Which formats are supported?

Open MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, M4V, 3GP, TS and — after a quick in-browser conversion — AVI, WMV, FLV and MPEG. Save as MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, TS, AVI, FLV, 3GP, WMV or OGV with H.264, HEVC, VP9 or AV1.

Can I do other edits too?

Yes — every video tool here has the full editor: trim and cut, crop, rotate, resize for social media, speed, reverse, loop, filters, fades, text, logo, volume and export settings, with undo.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is resized in your browser, using your device's built-in video encoder (WebCodecs) where available, so the video never leaves your device and there's no upload wait.
