About Format Converter
Turn any picture into the format you need. Open JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC iPhone photos, GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG and ICO files and save them as JPG, PNG, compact 8-bit PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF or multi-size ICO icons.
Convert one picture or hundreds at once with a before / after preview that shows the new file size. Set the quality, the colour behind transparent areas, resize on the way, set the DPI for printing and keep photo details — all in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Good for
- Making photos and graphics open on any device or website
- Shrinking images for the web with WebP or AVIF
- Creating ICO icons, TIFF files for printing or GIFs for chat
Tip: Not sure which format? JPG for photos, PNG for anything with text or transparency, WebP for websites.
Frequently asked questions
Which formats can I convert?
You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC (iPhone photos), GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG and ICO files and save them as JPG, PNG, 8-bit PNG, WebP, AVIF (in browsers that support it), GIF, BMP, TIFF or ICO.
Which format should I choose?
JPG for photos that must open everywhere, PNG for graphics, screenshots and transparency, WebP or AVIF for the smallest files on websites, ICO for website and app icons, and TIFF for printing and archiving.
Can I convert many images at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like — they are all converted with the same settings and you can download them together as a ZIP.
What happens to transparency?
PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF and ICO keep transparent areas. JPG and BMP have no transparency, so those areas are filled with white or a colour you choose.
Are photo details kept?
Photos are turned upright, and when saving as JPG you can keep the EXIF details such as camera and date.
Are my images uploaded for conversion?
No. Every conversion happens in your browser, so your pictures stay on your device.
