About Passport Photo (35mm × 45mm)
35 × 45 mm is the most widely used passport photo size — for the UK, the Schengen area, the EU, India, Australia and many more. The tool crops your photo to exactly that size with the head sized to the biometric rules of the document you choose.
The background can be replaced with white or light grey, the photo adjusted for brightness and contrast, and everything saved as a digital file and a print sheet with several copies.
Good for
- UK, EU and Schengen passports and visas
- Indian and Australian passports
- ID cards and residence permits
Tip: Choose the exact document from the list — head size rules differ slightly between countries.
Frequently asked questions
Which documents use 35 × 45 mm?
Passports and visas for the UK, the Schengen area and EU countries, India, Australia, New Zealand and many others, plus many ID cards and forms.
How big should my head be?
Usually 32–36 mm from chin to crown for Schengen and EU photos, 29–34 mm for the UK and about 80% of the photo for Indian passports. The tool uses the rule of the document you pick.
How is my face positioned?
The face is found automatically and the photo is framed so your head (chin to crown) has the size the rules ask for, with the right space above it. Drag the photo or use the zoom slider to fine-tune — the guide lines show where the crown and chin should be.
Can I change the background?
Yes. The person is separated from the background in your browser, and the background is replaced with white, off-white, light grey, blue, red or any colour. Choose “Keep the photo’s own” if your wall is already plain.
Can I print it at home or at a photo shop?
Yes. Choose “Print sheet” to get a 4 × 6 in (10 × 15 cm), 5 × 7 in or A4 sheet with as many copies as fit and thin cut lines — print it at actual size.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Face detection, background replacement and everything else run in your browser — your photo never leaves your device.
