Hash Generator (SHA)
Get the hash of any text or file, or check that a download matches its published checksum.
- Your data never leaves your device
- 100% free
- No sign-up
- Works offline after first load
How to generate a hash
- Type text or open files.
- Choose algorithms, output format and an optional HMAC key.
- Copy a hash, verify a checksum or download a checksum file.
About Hash Generator
Generate MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512, SHA-3, BLAKE2/3, RIPEMD-160, CRC32 and xxHash hashes of text or files of any size.
Everything works in your browser, so it is instant and private, and your settings are remembered on this device.
Good for
- Verifying downloads and backups
- Signing API requests and webhooks
- Generating cache keys and ETags
Tip: MD5 and SHA-1 are fine for checksums but not for security — use SHA-256 or better.
Frequently asked questions
Which hash algorithms are supported?
MD5, SHA-1, SHA-224, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, SHA-3, Keccak-256, BLAKE2b, BLAKE2s, BLAKE3, RIPEMD-160, CRC32, CRC32C and xxHash — all calculated at once.
Can I hash large files?
Yes — files are read in chunks in your browser, so even multi-gigabyte ISO and backup files can be checked without uploading them.
How do I verify a download?
Open the file and paste the checksum from the website into “Verify” — a match is shown in green for whichever algorithm it is.
What is HMAC?
A hash that also uses a secret key, used to sign API requests and webhooks. Enter the key to get HMAC values.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Everything is processed by JavaScript in your browser — nothing you paste or open is sent to a server, so it is safe for API responses, tokens, configs and customer data. It also works offline once the page has loaded.
