Frequently asked questions

Which grayscale method is best?

Luminosity (BT.709) matches how our eyes see brightness and suits most photos. Average and Lightness are simple formulas; a single channel or the channel mixer gives creative control.

Is grayscale the same as black and white?

Grayscale keeps all shades of grey. Choose Pure B&W (1-bit) when you need only black and white pixels, for example for printing or engraving.

Can I edit many photos at once?

Yes — add several photos and the same settings apply to all of them; download each one or all of them as a ZIP.

Which formats can I use?

Open JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC (iPhone), AVIF, BMP, TIFF and more. Save as JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF with your choice of quality and size; camera information (EXIF) can be kept.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Every effect runs in your browser on your own device — your photos are never uploaded, and the result is rendered at full resolution when you download.
