How to Split a PDF or Extract Pages
Often you only need part of a document — one signed page of a contract, or a single chapter of a long report. Splitting lets you share exactly that and nothing more.
Splitting is also the quickest way to pull out a single chapter, invoice or form from a long document.
Step by step
- Open Split PDF and select your file. A preview of every page appears.
- To extract a block of pages, enter a page range (for example 3-7) and click Extract range.
- To pick scattered pages, tick each one and click Download selected.
- To save a single page, click Download under that page.

- At the pages you choose, with the ✂ button.
- By page ranges, such as 1-3, 4-10.
- Every page into its own PDF.
- Odd and even pages, or into two halves.
- By bookmarks — one PDF per chapter.
- Into files no bigger than a size you set.
Check the result before you split
Every page card is coloured and labelled with the file it will go into, and a red line marks each split. The preview updates as you change the options, so there are no surprises.
Frequently asked questions
Does splitting change the original file?
No. Your original PDF is untouched; each extract is saved as a new file.
Can I put pages back together in a different order?
Yes — extract the pages you need, then combine them in any order with Merge PDF.
Can I extract only some pages into one file?
Yes. Choose “By page ranges”, type the pages you want, for example 2-5, 9, and tick “Put all ranges into one PDF”.
