Frequently asked questions

Which sizes can I download?

HD (1280 × 720, when the creator uploaded one), SD (640 × 480), HQ (480 × 360), MQ (320 × 180) and small (120 × 90), as JPG or the smaller WebP.

Why is the HD thumbnail missing?

Some older or smaller videos don’t have a 1280 × 720 version; the tool marks it as not available and the SD or HQ size is the largest.

Does it work with Shorts and live streams?

Yes — paste any link: youtube.com/watch, youtu.be, /shorts/, /live/, /embed/ or a bare video ID. Paste several links to get them all.

Can I use downloaded thumbnails?

Thumbnails belong to their creators. Use them for reference, research or with permission — not as your own content.

What is sent to your server?

The video IDs from your links, so our server can look up each video's title, and the thumbnail images when you download them. The pictures come from YouTube's public image servers.
