Frequently asked questions
What is a slug?
The readable part at the end of a web address, e.g. how-to-bake-bread in example.com/blog/how-to-bake-bread. Good slugs are short, lower-case and use hyphens.
Hyphens or underscores?
Hyphens — Google treats them as word separators, underscores are joined into one word.
Are accents and special characters handled?
Yes: é becomes e, ß becomes ss, & becomes “and”, and everything else that is not a letter or digit becomes the separator.
Can I make many slugs at once?
Yes, one per line. Duplicates get -2, -3 so every slug is unique, and you can download a CSV with titles and slugs.
Can I open files?
