Frequently asked questions
Which units are included?
All common metric, imperial and US units for this category — open the From and To lists, or change the category to convert anything else.
Can I see all units at once?
Yes — the result is shown in every unit of the category below the main answer.
Can I convert a list of numbers?
Yes, choose “Convert a list” and paste one value per line.
Is 1 GB 1000 MB or 1024 MB?
Both are used. Storage makers and macOS count in 1000s (1 GB = 1000 MB); Windows and memory sizes use 1024. Switch “1 kilobyte =” to choose — GiB, MiB and KiB are always 1024-based.
Why does my 1 TB drive show less space?
Drive makers count 1 TB as 1,000,000,000,000 bytes, while Windows counts in units of 1024, so the same drive shows as about 931 GB.
